Attend a General Hearing
Most contested case hearings at the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) are open to the public unless they are designated as confidential. Confidential hearings and mediations are closed to the public as a matter of law.
Hearings are held daily at SOAH headquarters in Austin and in all regional SOAH offices.
Visit the General Hearings Schedule to see currently scheduled general hearings and mediations and reference Visiting SOAH for more information about visiting each office.
If you are a party, attorney, or witness in a contested case, please follow the instructions provided in the Notice of Hearing or in any scheduling orders issued by the Administrative Law Judge. For more information, please see Guide to Virtual Hearings and Frequently Asked Questions.
If you are a member of the public or media interested in attending a hearing, please contact the SOAH Chief Clerk's Office at 512.475.4993 at least 24 hours in advance of the hearing to arrange for your attendance.
Standards for Public Attendance
All persons in attendance must comport themselves with the same dignity, courtesy, and respect required by the district courts of the State of Texas. Any conduct that interferes with a proceeding may be cause for removal. For more information, please see SOAH Rule 155.409.
No audio or video recording or photography is permitted during a SOAH proceeding without prior authorization from the Administrative Law Judge. For more information, please see SOAH Rule 155.411.
